’tis the season…

do you feel that?  summer is finally here.  or rather, as we like to say in honor of howard kremer, “summah” is finally here!  (we listen to his podcast “who charted!” all the time, he’s a very funny comedian.  as a matter of fact, HERE, a link to his website.  enjoy.)

anywho, we want to thank everyone for all their support since we launched our etsy store (etsy.com/shop/bobbimarbles).  since then, k has been working on some new designs, and making lots of art.  i am looking into how i can add my own special touch to our products.  (knitting and embroidery, anyone?)

we just got back from a  weekend visit with some of our most favorite people in chandler, az.  we laughed, we swam, we watched some yo gabba gabba!, and we made a much needed trip to mecca (aka ikea).  all in all, k and i had a great first summah road trip, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the season.

as a special “successful first week of summah” post, here are a few outtakes from the bobbi marbles photo shoot we had last month with the talented john salazar and lovely karie morgan (also, check out k, he’s the long-haired beard-y model).  these photos were just too good not to share, even if we didn’t use them on etsy.  thanks again and forever to john and karie, and thanks to you for being interested in our little bobbi marbles world.

it’s about time…

we broke out the tiny, cat-sized champagne + straw to celebrate.

why, hello there!  yes, yes, it has been a long time since there has been any activity on this site.  but i was determined not to post anything until we had our etsy shop open.  silly me, i thought it would motivate us to getting it set up sooner rather than later.  all it did was make bobbi marbles seemingly disappear from the interwebs…

well, bobbi marbles is alive and well. she’s just rolling out of a lazy slumber.

the wonderful news is we officially opened our etsy shop yesterday!  you can find the shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/bobbimarbles.  there, we have five of our shirts and two art prints.  the shirts are either $20 or $25, and the prints are going for $40.  please remember, each design was hand drawn by the artist behind bobbi marbles, karl d.  he prints each shirt/print with lots of love, and lots of skill.

so please stop on by the shop, check it out, and let us know what you think.  and as always, please feel free to leave a comments and questions.

easier said than done.

(putting our product on the line for you all…..ahh, puns.  gotta love ’em.)

today is leap day 2012.  really it’s just any other day, but I like to think of it as an opportunity.  an “extra” 24 hours to do whatever you like.  honestly, we all know that it’s just like any other day, and we really ought to live every day as an opportunity.  alas, in our previous post we noted that we tend to procrastinate a bit.  thus, why i am taking the last day of february, a leap day, to update anyone who’s interested on what we have been up to.  so here it goes:

we’ve been taking in lots of inspiration and thinking a lot about what direction we’re going in next?

yes, not much has been going on in the bm front.  but we do have some new pictures of our t-shirts on our facebook page!  that’s exciting, nuh?

while the last post was about getting started, i guess my mindset today is staying started.  in other words, continue to make progress.

we want this blog to not just be about what we like, what our products are like and where you can get them.  while that’s all fine, we also want to give an insight into our process, or mistakes, and our struggles, as well as our triumphs (along with the occasional funny cat video, perhaps).  and right now our struggle is sort of still the same as it was when we started: looking fear of failure in the face and slapping it around.  (you hear that??  we OWN you, fear.)

step by step we’re getting further along with getting our shirts out to the masses.  so by the next post the etsy store will be up and running an we’ll have some more information for all you patient, patient friends.

happy leap day!  do something CRAZY!

bobbi marbles is birthed.

while the idea behind bobbi marbles is not new to us (k+b), we tend to be quite…ahem…lazy at getting our ideas off the ground.  so years later, we are here at a crossroads; decidedly fed up with working for other people at jobs that don’t fulfill us, we’re more than ready to do what we love, instead.

you know all those sayings, “follow your dreams”, “life is what you make it”, etc.?  we’re firm believers in all those cliched sayings!  and our idea, all those years ago, was to make art and clothing that people would enjoy.  to spend time and effort on something we’re proud of, and to share it with anyone who was interested.  to just try it, and see where it leads us.

so we’ve decided to launch bobbi marbles.  for now, it is a brand that sells handprinted t-shirts, made with environmentally friendly materials.  we plan to launch other handprinted clothing items, as well as accessories.  but first thing first.  see, we’re realizing that the key to turning ideas into realities is to just start.
